Couple fun things coming up this week!

Friday, February 13 - Good Run of Bad Luck
Friday the 13th, a day believed to be the worst day for luck. For some it will be, for others it will be the opposite. Half the students and staff will be incredible lucky all day long while the other half will have the worst luck of their lives.

Saturday, Februrary 14 - Stuck on You
Stuck On You: students and staff will be stuck to a random person at some point during the day and only a kiss will release them. 1st thru 3rd years only need to give (and receive) a kiss on the cheek. 4th years and up will need to lock lips.

Both events will run from midnight to midnight on their appointed days. Please reply to this post with the characters you'd like to have involved and in which events.

Now, for something new. All of us here enjoy writing to some degree. Or why else would we be using this medium for RPing? So we took all the names of the characters in the RP, mixed them together and paired them randomly. Your task, should you choose to accept, is to take one of these pairings and write a fic (it need not be romantic, just centered around those two characters). Feel free to pick more than one pairing or ones that don't involve one of your characters (in fact, I'd encourage it).

Some updates, reminders, and announcements~

Since we missed it last weekend (my fault since I wasn't able to post a reminder) Singing Journals event has been moved to this weekend. So Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the journals will be singing.

All students at Gold Crown Academy have auditions for the Spring Recital on Saturday between 10am and 4pm. Results will be posted Monday.

Spring Musical try outs and call-backs will be next Thursday and Friday. The musical they will be producing will be The Scarlet Pimpernel. A plot synopsis can be found here and the lyrics here and here. A description of the main roles is here. I'll put up a log of sorts next week for the try-outs.

I said there were events coming up so here they are! We're starting off with an old favorite then finishing off the month with something a little more involved.

January 9-10: Singing Journals
All journals will be prone to playing songs whenever opened. They might seem random, but at times they are eerily suitable. During the event, all journals will be locked in voice entry mode (which is a small change of how it's been done in the past). [example]

January 31-February1: Animal Day
Students and staff will turn into animals, often an animal they have an affinity with or have similar characteristics. The change can occur at any point during the two days but can only happen once. Once reverted back to human they will stay human. Humans-turned-animals will retain their human mind while in animal form but will be very susceptible to animal nature (ie. dogs will find it difficult not to chase after a throw stick, squirrels will feel high-strung). Humans-turned-animals will be unable to use human speech unless the animal is normally capable of it (ie. parrots). Those that understand animal speech will be able to understand the humans-turned-animals within their normal limitations (ie. horse-speakers can only speak to those turned into horses). Humans-turned-animals will not be able to communicate cross-species (ie. cats cannot talk to dogs). Humans-turned-animal will be able to use the palm journals, but will likely find it difficult (ie. size issues, vision issues). [example]

Along the line of non-magic-induced dates of import are the following:

January 17: Spring Recital Auditions for Gold Crown Academy. 10am - 4pm.
January 22: Spring Musical Auditions in the academy theatre. 3:30pm – 7:30pm
January 23: Spring Musical Callbacks, same location. 3:30pm – 6:30pm

Suggestions for the musical are still being taken here through Friday.

To better keep track of events and important dates, a calander has been made and can be found linked on the main comm under "Useful Links."

Last but not least, flists need to be updated, so here's a big monster list that should fix most people. Afterwards, there should be 35 journals and 2 communities from the game on flists. If there are many leftover journals that have been dropped, use the master drop list to remove everything and then use the master add list to put all the current journals back.

Students will have received a message to their journal this morning informing them who they are to give a gift to and the person's room number (or however is easist to find them).

At the suggestion of the lovely derivatizing Meillure will be having a Secret Santa. Students and staff may both participate.

Whether a character is going home for the break or not, they are free to participate as long as they can arrange for their gift to be delivered on Christmas Day. After everyone has signed up, participants will receive a message to their journal indicating who they need to get a gift for.

Reply to this post with the characters that will be participating and assignments will be made on Sunday (characters will receive their assignments Sunday morning).

Finals are now complete and students are free to leave at their earlier convenience. However most will probably want to stay for the Winter Carnival that will be taking place on campus Friday and Saturday.

Thanks to Professor Taylor, Head of Aoi, a thick blanket of snow will cover the grounds during the Carnival. The pond in the back of the grounds will be frozen over for ice skating and skates can be rented for $1/hr. Hot chocolate and hot cider will be served at various locations around the grounds along with roasted chestnuts.

A snow maze will be located not far from the pond and those that bring back a token from the center will receive a gift card to a $10 local bakery (no leaping over the walls of the maze please, that's a bit easy to see with everything being white).

Saturday morning there will be a snowman sculpting contest, with the winner receiving a $50 gift card to the mall. Saturday afternoon there will be a snowball fight, with the winners... going inside for dinner a little less wet than the losers.

(As it is, Boston is predicted to get light snow Friday starting around noon and heavy snow starting around 3pm. Heavy snow with wind (reaching 25 mph) will continue through around 8pm. Moderate snow with wind (15-20 mph) will continue until about 2pm Saturday afternoon. [ The Weather Channel ])

Hallowe'en is over and those who were injured in the fighting last night will be healed according to the schedule.

☠ Anyone who dies will be taken to the hospital and will be in there for three days. They will be "dead" (aka unconscious) until noon on 1st November, when they will wake but they must stay in the hospital wing until 4th November.
☠ Anyone with grievous injuries (deep wounds/missing limbs etc) will be in there for two days.
☠ Anyone with moderate injuries stays in there for a day
☠ Anyone with less than moderate injuries will be politely told to sod off as they're busy

Big rats, bats and vampires are all gone now ~ instead let the alien babies commence.

The huge piles of candy and little rats, bats and wailing sounds are still around. Anyone who was bitten over the last two days reverts to normal, even if you happened to get staked by Riku or frozen by Rupert. If you don't have an alien baby coming then feel free to watch the mayhem.

The alien babies will be around until 6pm Friday at which time they will all instantly turn into dolls. Remember they will all have the facial features of the human parent except for green skin and fully black eyes.

Lastly, the HALLOWE'EN PARTY is up to log. It doesn't officially start until 7pm Friday evening, but it is open early to accommodate the timezone differences of players. There will be all kinds of music playing (although symphonic metal will dominate due to the Hallowe'en theme).

Then at MIDNIGHT, the DEMONS will be unleashed until sunrise the next morning.

Slightly different format for the open log to aid in the party atmosphere. Put in the time of any thread start like so and then if your character is around at the time in that area; feel free to reply. I want to see how this format works for party logs.

HALLOWE'EN WEEK HAS BEGUN

Monday

Rats, cats, giant bats? Oh My! - Monday will see oversized rats (think R.O.U.S.es), creepy mangy black cats and giant bats are gonna be around. The bats will pick people at random to divebomb, pick up and hang in trees or thanks Erica poop on.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Vampires. These vampires are not Hollywoodized. These are more akin to the Transylvanian/Slav myths aka they are hampered by sunlight but it does not kill them.

Your characters can be stalked and hunted on Tuesday and Wednesday. If they get bitten, they will fall "dead" for about ten minutes wherever they are and then will rise as a vampire themselves. Midnight Wednesday will see them all become human again.

Thursday and Friday

SIM ALIEN BABIES. Not just sim babies, oh no. Sim babies are only born to males unless you download a mod for it. We downloaded said mod. :| This means both males and females are eligible.

All day Thursday characters will get abducted and then after three hours of random upping and downing of body stats, you will end up back in your dorm. You will feel a little sore and then an hour later, you will sprout a belly. An hour after that, it will get bigger. An hour after that, woohoo, magic babies like so. You will have to look after these little green babies until 6pm on Friday 31st, when they will change into dolls.

Sim birth - you get a short labour and then the babies literally appear in your arms. The babies will have green skin and their entire eyeball will be black, but facially they will look like their human parent.

Starting today, so the school is full of R.O.U.S.es and there is plenty of free candy around to eat - none of it touched by the vermin. Don't forget the only unaffected places on campus are the dorm rooms themselves. The common areas, halls etc are affected so only inside a dorm room are the characters safe from the creepies around.

Riku's Mohra demons will have their blood utilized by the doctors to help heal people's injuries/death.

There will be no more sign ups for Hallowe'en, however, if you want your character to be involved and didn't sign them up, they of course can be attacked by the demons. The only ones that will be specifically targeted are the ones named above. Any other demons you may wish to bring in must be okayed with me first and have a decent description I can check online.

Hallowe'en

Hallowe'en is a-coming and all around the school in the week before Hallowe'en there will be decorations up. Meillure Academy takes it's holidays veeeery seriously. On Monday 27th, the school and university will be flooded with very realistic decorations. I'm talking about bats that will actually fly down and bother you as you walk the corridors and rats that run along and climb up the desks as you try to work.

There will also be huge piles of candy (all bug and vermin-free, so edible) that will act like Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, anything from strawberry to vomit to dirt to pork pie free for students and teachers to sample. There will also be standard fare like fake skeletons and cutouts of witches and things. Occasional cackles will issue from nowhere and things will generally jump out at you to creep you out. The only safe zones will be dorms. The dorm hallways and common rooms etc will be affected but inside the dorms will be free of creepies.

Then on Hallowe'en itself, there will be a huge dance in the main hall. Decorated spectacularly with awesome music, there will be themed nibbles and punch and the like.

However, at midnight, the room will be overrun with the school's resident demons. The seal is weakest at midnight on Hallowe'en. You can either run and hide or stand and fight! Or try to run and get nabbed bwahahaha

Fight guidelines:

☠ You may use any of your powers you so choose against the demons
☠ Feel free to get maimed as frankly, these things are powerful and you will get hurt
☠ They will break free at midnight, Friday 31st
☠ They will disappear back into the seal (visually, think like in Ghostbusters when they get sucked into the pack) at 6.18am, sunrise.

The open log for the party will go up on Wednesday 29th October and will stay open all weekend as I know many of us are on differing timezones.

Alice in Wonderland is in effect!

As an addendum - the clothes your character was in at 7am, awake or asleep, will have shrunk or grown big to fit them. Of course, if that happened to be your pajamas, you will have to get day clothes.

The staff will be holding an emergency clothes resizing for those affected in the Midori common rooms in both girl's and boy's dorms. Dolls clothes are perfectly fine for small people.

It starts tomorrow at 7am and ends 11:50 Sunday night.

Students will be warned to take care in case they hurt a tiny person this weekend. All tiny people will be supplied with a 6" long doll's bed (think a Barbie bed) and all big people will be housed in the main hall where they will have laid out mattresses big enough for you.

Every small person is to attach themselves to a big person like a sponsor. They will be in charge of your safety for the duration.

It is that time again.

On Tuesday Matsumori and Taylor will be on their contraband raid again. Please note none of the students will be made aware of this so any illegal substances will be destroyed.

The only places that will not be affected on campus will be the University and the Teacher's Quarters and offices. Therefore any student living in the Academy's campus area will lose any and all substances they're not supposed to have.

Why?

- Well, they tend to do this at random anyway to throw the kids off any kind of routine.
- Matsumori is a plant mage and she knows when there is cannabis on campus. That and she can also detect it on people if she is paying attention. Matsumori is probably the scariest HoH so I wouldn't cross her and Taylor cut his way out of a megashark and he still isn't as scary.

All alcohol in student dorms will turn to water on Tuesday at 7am. So anyone with a hangover from the party will also instantly sober with a nasty hangover ♥

All powder substances will turn to sugar and all plant substances will turn to lettuce.

Anyone in possession of these things will have the neon lights appear over their heads for the entire day, causing one of the two HoH in charge to pull you aside and give three day's detention.

"Pot smoker", "Drunk" or "Snorter" and suchlike so you can be publicly mocked for the day by your peers.

If your character has any contraband, reply to this post by Tuesday morning and we will post the detention lists Wednesday. Any characters that don't reply yet have been known to do it will also be penalized as per the mods.

At breakfast all the characters signed up will be getting their usual morning drink (teachers included if they want to take part) and half will suddenly find themselves ten feet tall and the rest of the body proportionately sized. The rest will find themselves four inches tall.

The tall people will also find their voices get considerably louder whereas the small people will have to shout with all their might to be heard.

The characters will be split into tall and small by randomization. This event will run from 7am Friday 26th to 11:59pm Sunday 28th.

No magic or abilities will be able to revert you during this time and anyone who does not attend class on the Friday due to this will receive detentions~

Ok, time to admit this. I failed. I completely forgot we were running an event this weekend, I have been distracted and managed to let this one leak out of my ear.

In order to make up for forgetting this weekend was

we will be running it tomorrow and Tuesday. If your character opts IN, they may miss class. If they opt OUT, class is still running.
